Not necessarily. ASE is working on a certification especially for hybrid vehicles. Most systems on these cars are the same as in "normal" cars, but when it comes to the hybrid there are new technologies and safety issues to consider, such as working with high voltage components. The best thing to do is ask to see your mechanic certifications for work on its hybrid. Here in the mountains of northern Georgia, there is a lot of hybrids on the road. Stores that want to stay ahead of the curve going to train their players in these systems, and announce that. Any dealer that sells hybrid required for their children trained in these systems as a prerequisite to selling them.
