I am looking to buy a new car. I want a Toyota Prius or RAV4?

I heard that the Prius is really hard to buy with a credit not so good (620). A lady at the bank told us (me and husband) who did not qualify for a hybrid something that the battery was 3 to 4 thousand? Is this true? Prius are also small cars my husband is 6'0 I just go with Rav4?
