Alternatives for increasing the range of electric vehicles??
I know you can not make a perpetual motion machine. At least not yet. But if you have an electric car, high performance alternators could run out of the drive wheels, at least, increase the range of vehicles? I guess that is running the alternator directly from the electric motor would probably be useless, but it was a running wheel drive should not add as drag much to the electric motor itself. I ask because I'm contemplating an electric conversion for one of my old VW bugs, but apparently most people running them seem to be receiving about 60 miles away, at best a fee. I drive 70 miles round trip daily to work on the highway so I need a little wider than I am seeing. BTW from what I read I need to run at least a 96v system to maintain decent highway speeds if that matters. Thanks for all the answers.
The drag of the generator is likely to adversely affect production, unless it can be done while traveling downhill and the increased energy of gravity. A solar panel mounted on the ceiling could get a little, but probably not enough to matter. You may want to increase the electricity storage (drums) and simply the ability to charge longer when idle. I applaud the idea! I wanted a Power Ranger, but simply were not available in 2002 when I bought mine. Exxon-Mobile love to tell where to Shove It! Good luck
