Electric Vehicle Battery Technology
How do you build an electric car (vehicle)?
I had to enroll in this class of technology, because all other courses were full potential. Therefore, I am not very familiar with the design or development of a concept car, or the footsteps of others involved. Does anyone know how build an electric vehicle, or known to be a useful site that explains the process (including design considerations, the type of batteries and motor to use, cost, and other necessary materials)? ————– Electric cars are much easier to design and to build than gas-powered vehicles. There are fewer systems to worry about. * You need an old car, engine, electronic controller, batteries, charger, and some wiring and gauges. Step by step: * Basically, throw all the gas components of a manual transmission car – engine, gas tank, radiator, silencers, etc (this may be the hardest part.) * Kill the electric motor to the existing transaxle – you may need to buy or make a custom adapter plate. * Mount the electronic controller near the motor, and connect the throttle cable to potbox age. Connect the motor to the controller, and run cables from the controller to the panel instruments (the state of charge gauge, voltmeter, and ammeter) * Find out where to mount the batteries.
